Evolutionary anthropologist Helen Elizabeth Fisher passed away on Saturday August 17th, 2024, in New York City, following a battle with metastatic endometrial cancer. She was age 79. Her picture appears in Fig. 1.

Those who knew Helen will describe her as relentlessly curious, a creative researcher, and a dedicated collaborator. Her innovative ideas will continue to shape multiple fields and public discourse for many years to come. Highlighting her global impact, The New York Times ran an obituary the weekend following her passing: Helen Fisher, Who Researched the Brain's Love Circuitry, Dies at 79: A biological anthropologist, she worked with colleagues to confirm for the first time that love is hard-wired in the brain. (Sandomir, 2024).

Helen spent her professional life as a scientist, author, and educator for the public on how evolution shaped and continues to shape human behavior, most notably people's romantic and sexual lives. A foremost authority on the science of love, she was a sought-after and widely referenced public ambassador for the evolutionary behavioral sciences.
