The USPSTF I Statement on Skin Cancer Screening—Not a Disappointment but an Opportunity

For the fourth time in the past quarter century, the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has concluded that skin cancer screening receives an I statement. This means that once again the USPSTF has decided that “the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefits and harms of visual skin examination by a clinician to screen for skin cancer in adolescents and adults.”1
