Fully guided dental implant placement by using an additively manufactured screw-retained surgical guide: A dental technique

Guided surgical techniques for dental implant placement allow for precise and secure implant positioning. However, they mainly depend on proper guide fixation and stability during surgery, which is limited by the lack of reliable anatomic features, especially in completely edentulous arches. Traditional mucosa-supported surgical guides are inherently inaccurate, and positioning the fixation pins in clinically feasible positions can be challenging. This article describes a technique for fully guided dental implant placement by using a screw-retained surgical guide on multiunit abutments without the need for fixation pins. This allows for a less invasive procedure, better guide stability during surgery, and more accurate implant placement.
