Abstract
Two Schiff bases derivatives from isoniazid (isonicotinic acid hydrazide ) have been synthesized by condensing with (a2-hydroxybenzaldehyde L1 and 1,3-Benzodioxole-5-carboxaldehyde L2). The prepared ligands were identified by using spectroscopic techniques such as infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and H1NMR spectroscopy. Further, polymer resins were prepared by using two methods depends on ( formadehyde for L1 and Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) for L2). Electrochemical properties of the Schiff base ligands were studied by using cyclic voltammetry technique which showed one quasi-reversible process for both ligands. The chelating efficiency and loading capacity were studied based on time and pH for prepared ligands toward various metal ions, namely, Cu2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, Ni2+ and Co2+. The best pH is 4 due to the ligands more stable at this pH. The findings showed that under practical conditions the loaded capacity for L1 increased in the order Co2+<Ni2+<Fe2+<Zn2+<Cu2+ whereas the order was Fe2+<Co2+<Ni2+<Cu2+<Zn2+ for L2.
