Vasani R. New beginnings.. Indian J Paediatr Dermatol 2022;23:187

It has been indeed a pleasure and honor to take on the mantle of the Editor-in-Chief of IJPD beginning in January 2022. I am grateful to Drs. Sandipan Dhar and Deepak Parikh for placing their confidence in me to have chosen me for this responsible as well as challenging position.

The sole purpose of the launching of IJPD was to nurture the subspecialty of Pediatric Dermatology and promote research in this relatively fledgling field in India. The Journal has now become a useful resource for readers, thanks to the efforts of my predecessors. I/we, as a team, are committed to nurturing the Journal. We envisage it to become a stronger than ever platform to share cases, research, new information, opinions, experiences, and erudite writing. Our team is committed to making this Journal an attractive option to publish in and thereby participate actively in its growth. Having been in the company of prolific writers and being a passionate writer in my own capacity, I am convinced that scientific writing needs constant encouragement and nurturing. We aim to do just that. It is our dream to see more colleagues writing and sharing their experiences with our community around the world.

There has been a lull in submissions to the journal during the pandemic. Receiving more submissions from authors in India and around the world is high on our priority list. In the meanwhile, we have made a conscious attempt to shorten the time from submission to acceptance and expedite the process ahead of print status. We have also added several new reviewers too in an attempt to shorten the editorial process. Starting with this issue, we have ensured that the sections – Images in Pediatric Dermatology, Resident's Corner, as well as Hot Topics in Pediatric Dermatology – will be a regular feature. Pediatric Dermatology Quiz Section, which we plan to introduce soon, shall also hopefully add value to the already popular Journal.

IJPD is included in the list of journals recognized by the Medical Council of India. It is already indexed in the Indian Science Abstracts, DOAJ, Web of Science, and Emerging Sources Citation index. It is just a matter of time before it is indexed on PubMed, and we continue to wait patiently for that important milestone. We take this opportunity to urge you to share your scholarly writings with us in the meanwhile. We are doing everything we can to make the authors' experience more satisfactory as regards the submission system.

Authors, reviewers, editorial team members, and publishing team members unwittingly become a family unit. It is based on mutual understanding, positive ideas novel thoughts, and a will to work toward a better future with a common purpose. Let us work in unison to showcase Pediatric Dermatology from India and around the globe.

Viva IJPD!
