Dr. Meritxell Genescà is a senior investigator at the Infectious Diseases Department of the Vall d′Hebron Research Institute in Barcelona. She is a veterinarian that first worked on organ preservation for transplantation and then specialised on mucosal immunology and HIV vaccine development at the University of California. Her current research focuses on understanding resident immunity against mucosal pathogens using human tissue samples.
